Joseph Wood
Co-Founder, partner, pedagogical son
Joseph P. Wood is co-founder of Slash Pine Press and author of five chapbooks and two books of poetry–Fold of the Map (Salmon Poetry Ltd. 2012) and I & We (CustomWords 2010). Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Wood now lives in Birmingham, Alabama. His new obsessions are glass blowing and poetry readings in public spaces.
What Slash Pine means to JW: “A singular meritocracy bores me. I want to hear operas to John Cage pieces; I want to go to a Cezanne exhibit one day and then to local folk artist the next. I delight in hearing all sorts of artists–nationally known to high school students, and everyone in between. I co-founded Slash Pine to build a community space where all walks of people are welcome, all imaginative acts are given careful consideration. I co-founded Slash Pine to be in curiosity-driven company.”
