Patti White

Professor Patti White received her PhD in English from City University of New York in 1990.  She also completed an MPA at the University of Colorado Graduate School of Public Affairs in 1983. Her teaching interests include public works poetry, representations of apocalypse, the dramatic monologue, postmodern narrative, and systems theory.  Her new manuscript Chain Link Fence is forthcoming from Anhinga Press in 2013.

“Slash Pine — both as a press and a form of immersion learning — has exploded in our hands and I see shards of it lodging in all kinds of unexpected places. For me, it’s an opportunity to exist in the arts community in a more immediate and personally dangerous way. Part of it stems from a desire for words (and new ways to encounter them) that has a logic of its own, one that leads almost inevitably from chapbooks to things like poetry hikes and festivals and a swarm of interns who share that hunger. I see Slash Pine Press as following that logic to its illogical consequences: pushing the boundaries and borders of what is feasible and sensible, locating itself on the very edge of what works.
