Pics from Into the Woods: An experimentation of place and authorship

I’m not one to boast, truly (though blogs make that almost impossible to avoid). But I want to say that this here event–4 separate hikes, each dedicated to the work of 2 writers, whereby each writer heard their own story or set of poems recited back to them by undergrads in a variety of natural setting–I want to say that this event rocked.

And it was our smallest, about 50 people, not including writer, readers, and volunteers. But it was intimate, communal–the right size for a 3.5 mile hike.

For instance, here is Natalie Latta, a reader who hung out beneath a bridge like a troll for 2 hours, and wait for each group to arrive and be startled shitless when she began reading a section of a writer’s work.

There are a full set of pics I can’t post on blogger cause it will shut down. But go here. It was truly one of the most interesting things I’ve done for making up a reading.

Undergrads rock: they made up the readers and hike leaders and other volunteers. And most definitely, thank you Kat Griffith for the amazing pictures.

This our last event of 2009. We got books to make. We need rest. We need a new website, coming soon. We may continue to use blogger for press related news.
